Tool Description: Our stainless steel rounded concave cutter is similar to our flush concave cutter but with a distinct curve to the cutter-head. The rounded design creates a hybrid tool - a combination of our flush concave cutter and our spherical knob cutter. This tool is great for removal of both branches and trunk material. The rounded blades also create a stronger tool.

Series 7: Our smaller, Series 7 tools, are the ideal size for smaller bonsai material and detailed work.
Standard Issue: The Standard Issue tools are the ideal size for the more common sized bonsai material.

I have been using these spherical concave cutters for decades - Vaughn Banting first turned me on to them.  I have a small lightweight Masakuni tool that I am extremely fond of.  I bought a pair of the 7" cutters from ABT.  The tool is precisely made, has properly ground cutting edges and works smoothly.  If I had a suggestion, it would be for a slightly smaller and light weight tool - maybe a special line, not to replace current offerings.  I bought half a dozen tools from ABT and all are as good - probably better - as any tool I have bought from Japanese makers.  The tools were engraved and sent the first business day.  I will probably replace a half a dozen more tools with ABT tools.

For only $55, these Rounded Concave Cutters are unbelievably solid! I would compare these to the $150+ Japanese tools that cost a fortune to ship. They are extremely sharp and cut through my trees like butter. I only got the Series 7 which is the smallest version and I’m shocked at how well they perform on my small/mid size trees. I’ll be back to get the complete set and thanks for the fast 2-day shipping!
